Jo Burton – Counsellor

Dip Couns

Jo’s passion for Counselling came after she experienced Counselling for herself.  It was such a life changing event for her that she became a qualified Counsellor so she could use this positive experience to help others.

Jo’s an experienced Counsellor who offers short or longer-term Counselling for individuals 18 years and over with a wide range of issues. She has a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and uses a mixture of different approaches tailored for the needs of the Client.

Jo’s training included all the ‘mainstream’ Counselling approaches:

  • Humanistic
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (known as CBT)
  • Psychodynamic

During her Counselling training Jo worked for the Hertfordshire NHS Primary Care Trust and the Samaritans.  After qualifying she did additional training with Cruse Bereavement Care working with them as a Bereavement support volunteer.

People seek Counselling for many reasons.  Jo believes that it is useful any time, and not just at breaking point.  We all know when things just do not feel quite right or we are at the point of giving up completely.

Counselling can help by talking and working through any difficulties or challenges, exploring, and understanding our many different thoughts and feelings to find a positive way forward.
