Biography

BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, LicAc, MBAcC

Roz has a creative background, originally training in art and design, and spent three years studying ceramics at Falmouth College of Art. After getting married in 2003, Roz (and Adam) spent several years travelling and working in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, America and Mexico. Roz’s employment experience has been varied, encompassing childcare, elderly-care, hospitality work, and various admin roles. All of which helped bring her to the realisation that she wanted a career that allowed her to engage with, and make a difference to people while exploring her long held interest in health and wellbeing.

The efficacy and holistic approach of acupuncture lured Roz into learning more about this fascinating medicine. The principle that in recognising the patterns reflected throughout nature, we can gain understanding of both nature and the self, and that in applying these principles to health, this knowledge can provide the ability to guide the body towards a better balance, had her hooked and led her to study Acupuncture at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, where she gained a first class honours degree in integrated 5 Element Acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

This integrated approach means that her treatments focus not only on the patterns of disharmony that result in the signs and symptoms suffered being addressed, guiding the body back into balance, but that the constitution of the individual is focussed on and encouraged to flourish.

Acupuncture recognises that each patient is not just a collection of physical ailments, and that the manifestation of a physical complaint can (and very often, does) serve as a representation of emotional or spiritual distress. The body mind and spirit are equally important in being healthy, and the integrated approach of 5 element and TCM provides a truly holistic process of diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of health.

One of the great appeals of studying acupuncture is that there is always more to learn, be it through discovering new approaches and techniques, or in adding another layer of understanding to existing knowledge. Roz continues to take post-graduate courses regularly.
